Painting with Straws

ages 2-6

Supplies

Washable paint, such as tempera paint; construction paper or regular paper; straw; apron

Activity Detail

Drop a couple of drops of paint onto a piece of paper, and give your child a straw to blow the paint with. Be sure that they just use the straw as a blower -- something to move the paint around with. Some kids like to put their straws directly into the paint. Kids love doing this, but be careful with their clothes. Things can get a bit messy. You can also add a second or third color. A fun project with this activity is to create a work of art that is coordinated to your child's bedroom colors. Your child will be so proud to see his or her art hanging on his wall.
