Rhyming and Reading
ages 3-6
Supplies
Children's book with rhyming words, such as Goodnight Moon; paper and pen
Activity Detail
Read a book with rhyming words, such as Goodnight Moon, with your child. As you read it, ask your child to help you find the rhyming words. Write down each rhyming pair. Talk about how some words rhyme and do not have the same spelling pattern (bears and chairs) or number of syllables (moon and balloon). Rhyming is an important language development skill to learn, and this activity is a great way to begin building this skill.
