Water Bottles Decorations
ages 5-6
Supplies
Beads, small ponytail holders, water bottles.
Activity Detail
Before your next backyard party, have your older kids help you with this fun activity -- or set it up as a beginning-of-party craft. Take a small ponytail holder and pull it so that it is like a line. Slide a few beads onto it from one end so that the beads are in the middle of the ponytail holder with both sides of the ponytail holder inside the beads (the ponytail holder is being used like a thread). Then loop two more holders onto the top and bottom of the ponytail holder with beads (so that the beads are in the center with an empty ponytail holder attached at either end). To do this, slide a small, empty ponytail holder through one end of the beaded ponytail holder. Then pull one end of the empty ponytail holder through the other end, pulling tightly so that it attaches neatly to the beaded ponytail holder. Repeat with the other side. The ponytail holders without beads should then be placed one on top of the other so that the beaded ponytail holder arches out to the side. Then slip the two empty ponytail holders right onto the top of a water bottle to make an identifying tag.
Comments
I think older children would enjoy this activity the most. I would be concerned about having small beads around little children since it is a choking hazzard.

The directions are a little confusing so I'd love to see a picture!

We assigned a bead color to each person at our event and this made identifying water bottles a lot easier. A great activity for T-ball or soccer teams to do while waiting at a game or practice.

Try this activity with lettered beads. That way each child can have his or her own "monogrammed" water.
